Let’s Talk: Parent & Family sessions

As a company, we truly value our children and families and endeavour to work in partnership with them in any way that we can.

We also value the proven benefits these strong partnerships can have on children, as evidenced by the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory framework:

”Good parenting and high-quality early learning provide the foundation children need to fulfil their potential.

Children benefit from a strong partnership between practitioners and parents and/or carers.

Practitioners should address any learning and development needs in partnership with parents and/or carers, and any relevant professionals.“

We have a wide range of ways in which we build and maintain parent partnerships, and always look to gain feedback for how we can strengthen our services even further. In 2023, we received feedback from our parents explaining they wanted to access more support and training for a range of different topics. We reflected on this and different ways we could help; feedback was accurate as it’s true, babies and children don’t come with instruction manuals! It can be hard to find trusted sources of information and oftentimes, the internet can give such conflicting and opinion based information.

Because of this, we worked hard to create our “Parent Talk” sessions.

We once again reached out to our parents and families to see which topics they wanted to see covered and what specific areas would be beneficial to them. All of these topics were considered and discussed with our highly knowledgeable and experienced team and lots of training was put together! No matter their job role, our team members have great knowledge, passion and experiences and so our sessions are planned and delivered by our Early Years Educators, Room Leaders, Branch Leaders and Senior Leaders.

We very much understand that parents are a child’s first teacher, so as ever, we were so excited for the chance to continue our partnership working as we come together for our parent talk sessions and workshops.

With all of our sessions, we carefully considered the content and how this was best to be delivered, whilst also carefully considering feedback from parents to ensure they are delivered on a range of days, and whether the sessions are in the morning, afternoon or evening. We understand that parents and families are extremely busy, so we vary these sessions between face-to-face, virtually and blended opportunities. All of our sessions are also recorded and uploaded to our YouTube page “@LittleHandsSocial” for everyone to view in their own time too.

Our parent talk sessions are held once per month and are open for all of our families to join. These aren’t just limited to parents, we very much welcome the opportunity to work with all family members and can tailor these to your experiences at home.

Although we have thought about our sessions in advance, and feel the topics will be really beneficial in line with feedback we received, we are also able to adapt these sessions, as well as the timetable, to ensure these are varied and tailored to what is needed for each of our families at the time.

We will continue to send out our termly HNA (Home Nursery Association) questionnaires, and as ever, parents’ feedback is always welcome. For all of our Little Hands families, please feel free to include within these questionnaires, or within your general conversations with the team, if you would like any particular support or feel you would like a specific topic to be covered.

We look forward to continuing delivering these sessions with you, and are excited to launch the next academic year’s plans too!
