Amblecote branch, Ofsted report 2022

As you may know, we had our recent Ofsted inspection on February 18th 2022 and we were over the moon to have maintained our Outstanding judgement following our previous inspection from 23rd November 2016. We could not be prouder of our amazing staff team and all of the wonderful children and families who attend our nurseries everyday.

For those of you that haven’t read it (and for those that want to enjoy the read again!) please see a link for our report attached:

Below we have chosen some of our favourite clips, taken directly from the report. Next to each clip, we have added some more information about each topic. We hope you enjoy the read!

We have a high number of staff who are trained in both Makaton and Early Talk Boost. Makaton is a language programme that uses signs together with speech and symbols to support children’s  communication skills. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention, listening, comprehension, memory and expressive speech and language.

Early Talk Boost is a literature programme which is carried out with children on a daily basis to support their ever expanding vocabulary. The sessions include activities that cover the foundation skills in speech, language and communication that children need for learning and understanding new words, as well as having conversations.

We also have our Home Lending Library available which includes an abundance of books that children can choose and take home with them to enjoy with their families. They can either bring back the book they have taken or swap it for one they have at home. Home Learning packs are also readily available for children to take home and extend on their learning further. They include a range of resources and instructions for a range of ways to extend learning at home.

As a company, we have a huge focus on children’s wellbeing to ensure they are supported to understand their emotions, self regulate and thrive! As well as yoga, fresh air and exercise, we also use emotion coaching throughout the nursery.

Emotion Coaching enables children and young people to manage their own behaviour through helping them to understand the different emotions they experience, why they occur, and how to handle them.

At Little Hands Daycare, we believe that children flourish best when they know how they and others are expected to behave. Children gain respect through interaction with caring adults who act as good role models, show them respect and value their individual personalities. The nursery actively promotes British values and encourages and praises positive, caring and polite behaviour at all times and provides an environment where children learn to respect themselves, other people and their surroundings.

Everything that we do is based on children’s interests and this underpins the ethos of Little Hands. We are always considering and reflecting upon ‘what would a day at Little Hands look like for a child within our care’? Children’s interests are used when practitioners set up the environment to ensure we are providing engaging learning workshops which spark a natural curiosity to explore them from the children. Our incredible staff team will then scaffold and extend their learning ensuring they are fully supporting children to meet their developmental milestones.
