Toddler room book of the month

In toddlers, we have been using our focus ‘life processes and living things’ to support  children’s personal, social and emotional skills and understanding of the world, we have also supported this by choosing our book of the month to be ‘ The very hungry caterpillar’, which showcases the life process of a caterpillar.
This book covers many of the areas of development such as maths, communication and language, literacy, understanding the world. The children have really enjoyed discussing topics such as healthy eating, where our food comes from, and living things.
The main layout of this book is very interactive and has helped to engage our 2 year olds in reading and exploring media and materials. They enjoy looking through the pages and at the bright, colourful pictures, guessing what fruit is coming next as they get used to the order of the book.
We have had a range of activities, but mainly enjoyed planting our own herbs and ensuring we look after them well! We will soon be planting these in to our sensory garden which is currently being designed and created by Hannah and Mady! We look forward to using this with all ages, providing them with a range of sensory opportunities to enhance their learning.’
