“The child’s first and most influential teacher is the parent” Unknown
How true that is! Every memory you make with your child, be that a huge planned outing with tonnes of time spent together; or a simple walk to the local shops is creating lasting learning opportunities for your child.
When you talk together, you model conversational skills such as respect, turn taking and a range of language.
When you travel together you raise awareness of; planning or preparation, different climates, languages, currency, timezones, habitats, a range of environments…to name but a few.
When you visit family and friends you promote community and remind children of their support network.
When you mix frozen berries with porridge you encourage scientific thought. You are encouraging experimentation, testing theories and predictions.
When you read together you encourage early reading skills, a love of reading, an awareness that information can be found in print, a strengthened relationship and bond.
We would love to hear what you get up to at home, to share in these learning opportunities and amazing memories with you. When you send in images of moments like this at home, staff can share them with the children and if they are comfortable; the wider group. From this, children can feel a huge sense of pride in their achievements and we can help them to foster this with their peers.
Within our learning software we can link each of these learning opportunities to the 7 areas of learning and allow learning at home to be fully integrated with learning at Little Hands.
So what are you waiting for?… What memory have you captured that you can share with us today? We are eagerly awaiting your input.
